I work with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and values, so I invite you to consider which resources resonate with your beliefs and which may not be a good fit. I encourage thoughtful reflection and discernment in choosing what best supports your personal growth.

Sex Education (Teens)

    • A Better Way to Teach Kids About Sex by Laura M. Padilla-Walker, Dean M. Busby, Jason S. Carroll, and Chelom E Leavitt offers parents a thoughtful, research-informed framework for guiding children toward sexual wholeness. Many in may generation (Gen X-ers) grew up with well-meaning parents, teachers and church leaders (in my case baby boomers) who relied on shame-based metaphors—the chewed gum, the the hole in the board, the licked lollypop—without being given the tools to foster confident, healthy conversations about sexuality. This book replaces fear-driven messaging with developmentally grounded, faith-centered guidance that equips parents to build trust, open communication, and a clear understanding of the body and its meaning.

    • Written from a Latter-day Saint perspective, the authors invite families to move beyond “just don’t do it” narratives toward a more compelling vision: sex is powerful and sacred, and worth protecting precisely because it is good. They address practical and often sensitive topics—including pornography, masturbation and self-touch, same-sex attraction, dating, and desire—while helping parents anchor discussions in both scientific research and spiritual values. Though some language reflects its LDS audience, the principles in this book can benefit any faith-based or values-driven parent who wants their children to grow into marriage with a healthy, joyful view of intimacy.
