My Services

I specialize in strengthening sexuality and relationship health through individual and couples therapy. In addition to clinical work, I offer self-help resources—including articles, handouts, and recommendations for books, websites, and podcasts.

I also provide supervision, consultation, and training for mental health professionals, and I’m available to present on a variety of topics in the community.

I love meeting new people, hearing their stories, and exploring opportunities for collaboration. Whatever your sexual health needs, my goal is to offer something helpful and inspiring to energize your relationships and enhance your sexual well-being.

FAQs

General

  • Some needs can be addressed with self-help tools, coping strategies, or support from loved ones. Others may benefit from working with a professional.

Read my article, DO I NEED THERAPY? to explore whether therapy might be the right step for you.

  • Choosing the right resources to address your relationships and sexuality struggles is an important consideration. Some would benefit from working on themselves individually before working on their relationship. Also, if you are in crisis, it may not be the best time to work on emotional, physical, and sexual intimacy. Check out my article, WHAT SERVICES ARE RIGHT FOR ME?for information on where to start.

  • Therapy involves a relationship of trust, focused conversations and problem-solving. My goal as a therapist is not to be the “expert” on your life and needed direction, but to bring specialized skills and expertise as a guide and support. Whether for a few sessions or for an extended period, I work with clients collaboratively to understand their history, assess current obstacles, find solutions, and ensure that changes are working.

  • Sex Therapy starts with an understanding of your history. From here, we address patterns of emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, gathering clues about where you may be getting stuck. More than problems and dysfunction, a sex therapist focuses on solutions and sexual health. Click on “WHAT IS SEX THERAPY? to read more about what therapists do and what they do not do.

  • I have worked with issues around pornography use and other unwanted patterns of sexual behaviors more than any other clinical issue. Over the last 20 years of practice, I have found a unique style of addressing these issues that is effective, evidence-based, and non-shaming. Click on SEX & PORNOGRAPHYto learn more.

  • I enjoy working with individuals and/or couples. Individual work may focus on one’s history, vulnerabilities, and personal sexuality. Couples work can focus on communication, attachment, and assignments to achieve a deep, intimate connection. For more information, click on my article “What Services are Right for Me?

  • More important than what you do in your relationships and sexuality is understanding the “why”. To help identify the “why” I start with one’s values. I am here to support you regardless of your value system. Your value system may be termed religious, a faith-crisis, non-religious, transitioning, spiritual, or non-traditional. No matter where you are at I respect your journey and desire to create a safe supprotive space. Click here for my section onSEX & SPIRITUALITYfor more on this topic.

  • As you consider what you are looking for in a therapist, let me share what I look for and appreciate in a client. I like clients who are ready to put in the time that is needed. I appreciate curiosity, commitment, and consistency. I enjoy working with those who are motivated to learn and grow and are open to new perspectives.
